ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Afro Brazilian Keratin Protein is a professional smoothing and straightening treatment designed specifically with textured hair in mind. It helps make thick, curly and unruly hair easier to manage while reducing frizz and unwanted volume.

The formaldehyde-free, protein-based formula uses heat-activated KeraProtein technology. Keratin and proteins help address porous areas within the hair fibre, while the heat from the straightening process helps realign the cuticle and create a smoother, more controlled shape.

The treatment helps improve the appearance and feel of the hair by supporting strength, softness, shine and manageability. Its thermal protection properties also help protect the hair fibre during the heat-activated smoothing process.

Afro Brazilian Keratin can be used as a smoothing and straightening treatment or as part of a reconstruction and restructuring service. The degree of curl reduction and final result can be adapted according to the hair and the desired result.

With suitable aftercare, results can last approximately 10–14 weeks, depending on hair type, condition, porosity, washing routine, lifestyle and aftercare.

HOW TO USE

STEP 1 - CLEANSE

Cleanse the hair thoroughly with shampoo 2–3 times, ensuring all oil, product build-up and residue has been removed.

STEP 2 - PREPARE THE HAIR

After shampooing, rough dry the hair until it is approximately 80–90% dry.

STEP 3 - APPLY THE TREATMENT

Divide the hair into 4 sections, beginning at the nape of the neck.

Working with small sections of approximately 0.5–1cm, apply the treatment from root to ends, leaving approximately 0.5cm between the product and the scalp. Do not apply directly to the scalp.

Continue until all the hair is covered, combing through as required to distribute the product evenly.

Leave to develop for 20–30 minutes, depending on the desired result and the condition/type of hair.

STEP 4 - RINSE

After the development time, rinse the hair thoroughly with water only.

For additional conditioning and shine, the SOS Hair Mask can be applied after rinsing and then rinsed thoroughly.

STEP 5 - BLOW-DRY & PREPARE

Apply a good-quality Argan Oil. Renew Argan Oil is recommended.

Blow-dry the hair completely and divide it into small sections of approximately 0.5cm, beginning at the nape.

STEP 6 - SEAL WITH HEAT

Using a straightening iron, seal the treatment by working through small sections from root to ends.

Pass the straightener over each section 7–8 times, continuing until the whole head has been completed.

AFTERCARE

Use suitable keratin aftercare shampoo and conditioner to help maintain the smoothing effect and maximise the longevity of the treatment.

With the correct aftercare routine, results can last up to 10–14 weeks, depending on the individual's hair type, condition, washing routine, lifestyle and maintenance.

• For professional use only.

• Do not apply directly to the scalp; maintain approximately a 0.5cm gap.

• Do not colour the hair at the same time as the treatment. Allow at least 1 week between services.

• The treatment may affect existing colour depending on the tint used and the condition of the hair.
